Peak Oak
This is the perfect floor for almost all renovation projects, barn conversions and older family homes where you would like some character but still need a more uniform look than barn grade oak provides. Solid oak flooring has been a staple in homes down the ages and was probably used by the very first peoples to settle in Europe. It's not surprising really, when you think about how durable, easy to work and downright beautiful solid oak can be.

Oak has been used to make doors for millennia and at Peak Oak, we continue the tradition, supplying solid oak doors in kit form or made to measure. We're now one of the leading suppliers of oak ledge and brace doors in the UK and as a result, sheer volume means we can keep our prices low and our quality high. Our Rustic Grade 16mm Engineered Oak Flooring offers heavy character from an engineered oak floor, in the form of a thinner cut of board.

Buying an oak floor for your home or business is a big decision and not one to be taken lightly. Like many products, oak flooring sales online have become a race to the bottom - both on price and quality.

Our solid oak flooring is all European oak and comes in 8 grades, ranging from barn grade through to quarter sawn.
Engineered oak flooring is essentially a veneer of solid oak bonded to a hardwood ply backing to form a floor board almost indistinguishable from a solid oak board once laid.
As with our solid oak flooring, the machining precision of our engineered boards is top notch, providing you with a smooth, even floor.
The great benefit of engineered oak flooring is its stability - it's ideal for use over underfloor heating or in rooms liable to have water splashing such as kitchens and bathrooms.

In the days of yore, most of the flooring would have been green oak and installed at the same time as the construction of the dwelling, but over time, air drying and kiln drying became more popular as understanding of the properties of oak grew.
These days, all solid oak flooring is kiln dried to a moisture content of between 8% and 12% to minimise movement in the wood as humidity levels change.
