Services
After leaving school in 1990 I served a 2 year YTS apprenticeship with a local flooring company.
I gained much of my hands on experience and qualifications during this time achieving my NVQ's for Retail sales and customer service levels 1 & 2, this gave me the foundations that I have built on over the following years.
Once I completed this apprenticeship I trained for several years to become a qualified carpet/flooring fitter.
Wanting to gain experience in all aspects of the flooring trade I then went on to add to my product and customer service knowledge by joining a large retail company where I started as a sales person working my way up to superstore manager.
When you want to buy a new carpet or another kind of flooring, it can be tricky knowing exactly what will suit your needs.
That's why we have such a huge range of carpets and flooring available at Barnard Flooring Ltd, to give you the widest selection possible, And if you feel confused, don't worry, we are on hand at all times to give you the best advice, although of course the eventual choice is yours.
But to start you off, here's our simple guide to flooring.
Wool carpets have deep, rich colours and resist soiling well.
This traditional natural material is renowned for looking good for a long time, and being easy to clean.
Some wool carpets are blended with synthetics for extra hard-wearing qualities.
Polypropylene carpets are extremely resistant to staining because the colour goes right through the synthetic fibres while they are being manufactured.
These carpets can even be cleaned with a diluted bleach solution, so they're great in places where you might get spills.
Laminates have become enormously popular in recent years, and it's not hard to see why - many of our laminates give the look and feel of real wood, while offering low maintenance, extreme durability, child friendliness and low cost.
Laminate is made by laying a sheet of decorative material over a synthetic base.
Many of our laminates benefit from V-groove technology to add extra authenticity and some are even hand scrapped to give the feel of real wood.
Laminate is a great way of giving your room a look and feel without costing the earth.
Cork, as a natural product, warms and enriches any interior.
With over 40 million natural cushion cells per cubic centimeter, cork is a natural sound and thermal insulator.
Cork floors are beautifully quiet and comfortable underfoot, warm and pleasant to the touch.
Cork floors do not absorb dust and are resistant to bacteria and fungus.
They do not cause allergies nor pose a risk to asthma sufferers.
Adhesives and finishing products used in the manufacturing of cork floors are formaldehyde-free and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions are not detectable.
